This epic adventure was jointly sponsored by myself and by Kenneth Fingerlos of Mile High Jeep Club (MHJC) up in Denver. I'm a member of both clubs and have gotten to know some MHJC folks through working All-4-Fun.
For us in NM4W, we are blessed to have a full year of wheeling. We head north to the mountains for scenery in the summer and head south for crawling in the winter. For MHJC, they tend to go somewhat dormant in the winter since they have big mountains that get a lot of snow. They have a tradition of going somewhere like Moab or Sand Hollow for Thanksgiving, to get a little more play time in before they put their toys to bed for the winter.
At A4F 2025 in Leadville, I began talking to Kenneth about a co-club adventure - could my NM4W crew join the MHJC crew in Moab and all of us play together?!? Kenneth easily welcomed us and so began the planning!
Most folks arrived in Moab on Wednesday, running trails Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, before heading home Sunday. Nine rigs from NM4W joined six rigs from MHJC.
I got our side organized with dates, lodging, and of course a potluck, then turned over trail planning to Kenneth. He and April are long-time trail leaders at Easter Jeep Safari and know Moab forwards and backwards. We inventoried rigs and driver skill levels, and he sent out trail requests. Two groups set out each day, with Kenneth taking an Easy/Moderate group and April taking a Moderate/Hard group. Kenneth took folks on Sevenmile Rim/Wipeout Hill, Fins & Things/Baby Lionsback, Lost World/Gemini Bridges/Bull Canyon. April took folks on Kane Creek, Gold Bar Rim, and Top of the World.
The two groups got together socially for a giant Thanksgiving dinner at Moab Brewery on Thursday evening and again at Moab Rim Campground for a potluck on Friday night.
Friends were made and fun was had!
