Well it wasn’t the day we were expecting. Considering it hadn’t rained since at least September, and the last precipitation we got was a dusting of snow in early December, it was supposed to be very dry and dusty. However mother nature decided a cloudy rainy day was in store. A little drizzle did not dampen our spirits, nor cause any problems, other than limiting some of our views. In fact it was an “eat no dust” day for everyone. The mud added some intrigue to the ride. 7 vehicles signed up, 7 showed up, including a first time applicant, and a returning club member who hasn’t been able to attend for a while. Although one later had to drop out due to not feeling well, the rest of us completed the 34 mile route in about 5 hours. We climbed a couple of fun hills, crossed between BLM, SFNF, and New Mexico boundaries multiple times, had a brief lunch at Hang Glider Hill, where there were no hang gliders (I have seen them there!), saw the local paved RC airstrip, and spotted a petroglyph in the Santa Fe River canyon. A really nice outing, thanks to all the drivers and passengers for making it a fun ride!
